New this year The haramaki is a traditional Japanese garment worn to around the abdomen to maintain warmth and well-being. The haramaki dates from samurai times, and still widely-worn in Japan during the colder months. Winner of Best New Product at camexpo 2010, the Genki haramaki offers a modern intepretation, featuring a snugly-fitting, double-layered design. Two sizes fit all in black white and all the 7 colours of the rainbow. The principle of protecting the abdominal organs, particularly the kidneys, from chills is emphasised in traditional Chinese medicine. Wearing the haramaki means the body isn't forced to work hard to maintain the temperature of these critical organs. The result is whole body warmth, including hands and feet. Circulation and qi energy flow are also improved.
The Genki Haramaki can be worn at home to relax, in bed for more restful sleep, or during sports and outdoor activities to avoid chills. Using only the softest cotton, its gentle enough to be worn directly against the skin, or as a stylish outer layer.
I am enjoying an orange one and find it very comfortable over my warm black leggings and black cotton top, keeping my middle warm. I have also found it my feet and hands are staying warmer too. I do not much like wearing black and a nice bright colour around my core feels so much better. The base chakra is also energized by the colour orange so that for me is an added bonus.
